Summer Classes

While high school students are preparing for final exams and counting down the days until summer break, college students are facing the terrible reality of summer classes.

Whether you’re required to take a summer semester by your college, you’re trying to catch up on classes, you’re trying to safe your GPA, or your housing is 12 months so you’ve already paid to stay by school, summer classes are a unique experience.

The one week break between finals and the beginning of summer semester is a beautiful tease, until you realize that you’re now back to the grind, but also have to try and find a summer job and achieve that summer body you were suppose to get over winter break.

I am currently trying to start reading my tech book for my developmental psychology class, but my brain is just refusing. It wants more than just a one week break before I have to go back to studying and reading, especially since this is a full semester course crammed into 6 weeks. I also just got into a humanities class that I was waitlisted for, so yay that I can get that class over,  but boo that I’ll have another class to work on!

Good luck to everyone taking summer classes! And to everyone who isn’t, I HATE YOU!

The BEST Website To Buy Stickers For Your Laptop

If you or anyone you know is a college student, then you are used to seeing laptops COVERED in stickers, whether they have to do with tv shows, greek life, school pride, politics *shudders*, or just hobbies.

I love buying my tickets from Reb Bubble, all of the stickers are designed by artists who get money from the purchases, and they always have a deal that after you buy 4 stickers they’re all 25% off and if you buy 10 or more, they’re all 50% off. I mea who can refuse those deals??

I have to admit that I am addicted to this website, even when I’m not buying stickers I like to just browse. The stickers I have include: a golden UCF logo, “do good”, “hold on i see a dog.”, mickey ears, Kourtney Kardashian “get over yourself”, a pug, sweet tea, chick fil a, Michael Scott “I am dead inside”, Bob’s burger family, birkenstocks, “yer a wizard”, “naps”, “wine about it”, stethoscope “future nurse”, a cat, and “God is within her she will not fall”.

Below I’ve posted some varieties of the stickers they have. Be sure to check out this amazing website!!

Hey y’all,

So you may or may not have read one of my previous posts titled: Never Take Anything For Granted. In that post I discussed a motorcycle accident that greatly effected the community I live in, the University of Central Florida. An acquaintance and fellow student at the university was in a life altering accident and has now under gone multiple surgeries. His life will forever be changed by this accident as it has taken his legs.

The student in the accident is in a fraternity called Phi Delta Theta, I know that many people have preconceived views of fraternities, that the guys are all assholes, all they do is drink, they’re trouble, they don’t care about their grades or community. After getting to know the guys in Phi Delt, I can tell you that those beliefs are 100% incorrect. The young men in this fraternity are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. After their brothers terrible accident they all rallied around him, creating a GoFundMe for his family to help with he expensive medical costs.

Another brother of Phi Delta Theta was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer and will need 16 weeks of chemotherapy followed by surgery to remove the rest of the tumor. Just like with their other brother, a GoFundMe was created to help raise money for the treatment. I don’t understand why these tragedies are happening to such amazing people and an amazing chapter.

I am asking anyone who is reading this from the bottom of my heart to please donate to these causes if you are able you! If these tough economic times make you unable to donate then please share their GoFundMe links!

Motivation Wall

As summer approaches and class loads get lighter, I have decided to get serious about weight loss and living a healthier life style. Not only to hated a body that I feel more comfortable showing off, but a body that I feel good in. Throughout the school year I have had a trainer, but we only meet twice a week and that is pretty much all the working out I would do. I decided to make a motivation wall and thought that I would share it with y’all incased any of you are in the same boat as me.

To help reach my goal over the summer I am increasing my training sessions to 3 times a week, eating healthier, cutting out certain foods from my diet, doing yoga on Sunday’s, and trying to workout on the days that I don’t meet with my trainer.

Here’s a list of what I posted on my motivation wall:

  • I will NOT
    • eat out of boredom
    • emotionally eat
    • eat after 8 pm
    • add salt or sugar

Why I Love Dad Bods

Dad bods: a male figure that says, yes I sometimes workout, but I also never miss happy hour or half off wing Wednesday.

Dad bods have recently become most girls new favorite body type. While some girls still fantasize about a 6 foot something male model with abs that you can grate cheese on, others are rejoicing over the much more realistic dad bod.

Girls are going crazy for dad bods because they’re normal, and much less intimidating than a guy who never misses a day at the gym and could easily be on the cover of GQ. I’m not trying to say that guys with dad bods aren’t as attractive as the gym rats, because honestly I find them more attractive. The fact they don’t have a “perfect” body makes them so much more approachable, and takes the stress off of girls to all look  like Victoria’s Secret models.

I’ve always been self-conscious about my body, especially since society always said that skinny is beautiful, but now dad bods are making people realize that you don’t have to look like a model to be attractive. Talking to guys is already nerve wrecking without them looking like they belong in Paris Fashion Week.

I’m so happy that dad bods are a thing and I hope they never change. I mean not only do they make me feel okay about not looking like Miranda Kerr, but they help you know what your possible boyfriend will look like when he’s older.

God bless you and dad bods,

Tee xoxo

Never Take Anything for Granted

I know, I know, you’ve heard it a thousands times, “Don’t take anything for granted.”, “You’re never guaranteed tomorrow.”, “Live everyday like it’s your last.” Well recently I was rudely awaken to how true those cliche sayings all are.

It started on Tuesday night when my roommate texted me that her very close friend had been in an accident while driving home. I knew he drove a motorcycle, so I was worried about what could’ve happened. She came into my room in tears because there were no details yet, but we both just figured that he hit a puddle and skidded off his bike. After texting some friends of hers that were already at the hospital she asked me if I could drive her there, she was in no condition to drive herself and this wasn’t a time for her to be alone.

Shortly after we arrived at the hospital, some friends came down to meet us at the entrance of the Emergency entrance of the hospital. After close, tight hugs we made our way up to where everyone else was waiting. As soon as we stepped into the waiting room it was evident that this was way more serious than either of us had realized. The group of normally lively college students was silent, not one person on their phones, but all consoling one another with teary eyes.

It was quickly revealed that the victim was lucky to be alive right now, and had his friend not have been driving behind him at the time and reacted as quickly as he did, he would’ve been dead. Her friend would recover, but he would never be the same, physically and emotionally, and would have to undergo countless hours of critical surgeries. We stayed there until they kicked us out because they needed the waiting room for other patients that would be coming in for scheduled surgeries, after all, there were around 50 of us there to support his brother and parents during this difficult time. We had a prayer circle before leaving and then were all on our way, many with plans to return in a few hours.

I know what you’re all probably thinking, motorcycles are dangerous, it’s no wonder that he crashed, but he’d been raised on bikes, he’d rode them his whole life. To him driving a bike was like driving a car for anyone else. It just goes tot show that these things really can happen to anyone, but no one realizes that util it happens in your community.

What I’m trying to say is, don’t hold grudges, hug everyone a little tighter, and if you have something to tell someone, say it. You never know what could happen, and you don’t want to live the rest of your live filled with “I wish I…”. So call your family, apologize for a stupid fight, smile at strangers, and count your blessings every night.

God bless,

The Struggles of Signing Up for Classes

Hey Y’all,

So if you or anyone you know is in college right now, we’re currently going through the stressful process of signing up for classes. After Spring semester of freshman year, most students are able to sign up for Summer, Fall, and Spring semester all at once. It sounds exciting, but its actually terrifying; I mean a group of people who can barely plan what they’ll have for dinner tonight have to plan the next three semesters of their lives. Here is what signing up for classes is really like.

So, you just got an automatic email from your advisor reminding you that you can sign up for classes soon.

mail

Now you go see when your enrollment date is and either cheer, or curse yourself for being a freshman and/or having bad grades and getting a late enrollment date.

date.gif

Time to google the course catalog for your maor to see what classes you need and then be really upset when you notice how many hard classes are coming your way. This will be the first time you contemplate dropping out.

dropout.gif

You soon realize that you need college, so you start to search for classes, ask friends which classes they’ll be taking, and plan around all the important times of the week such as Happy Hour every Friday from 3-7 pm, Ladies Night on Monday’s, and of course no classes before 10 am becuase who can function properly that early???

wfa

Now you wait, and wait, and wait until it’s your time to enroll. You set an alarm the day before, and when it’s time you log in and hover over the enroll button until it’s time.

waiting.gif

FINALLY, you push the enroll button and…

you can’t get into two classes, you’re wait listed for three, and the only classes you can sign up for are electives or GEPs.

screaming

Quickly, you try to sign up for the classes you need before they fill up, constantly checking the days and times your enrolling in. After a few breakdowns, contemplations of dropping out, deciding if you should switch majors, and one crying call to mom, you’re now enrolled in an 8 am class, a couple night classes, one online class, and the perfect schedule that you created for the three semesters is ruined.

But hey, at least now you have a reason to go crazy at Pub’s free drinks till midnight!

What to Expect from Me

Hey y’all,

So I started this blog because well what else do college girls do when they can’t afford to go out and finished watching their favorite show on Netflix? But really, I wanted this blog to be a digital scrapbook of my college experience. I’ll probably keep it anonymous so that I feel more comfortable sharing my experiences, even the embarrassing ones. I can’t promise that I will update every week or that my content will always be interesting, but it will be me. I appreciate any comments or suggestions you have for me because this is my first blog, but please be kind.

God bless,

Tee xoxo
